What thickness does aluminum sheet come in?

Generally speaking, any aluminium panel between about 0.2mm to 6.5mm thick is usually considered an aluminium sheet, whereas thinner gauge products than this would typically be classified and sold as foils. Thicker gauges than 6.5mm (roughly a quarter of an inch) are most often referred to as aluminium plate.

How strong is aluminium sheet?

The tensile strength of pure aluminium is around 90 MPa but this can be increased to over 690 MPa for some heat-treatable alloys.

Can I cut aluminum with a circular saw?

Most grades of aluminum offer excellent work ability and weldability, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. The preferred way to cut this material is with a miter saw but a circular saw still works.
