What is 6063 aluminum good for?
Alloy 6063, or architectural aluminum, can be soft anodized to create an aesthetically pleasing, colored finish for visual architectural and building applications. Common uses for 6063 AL include window frames, door frames, roofs, and sign frames since high strength is not the most important factor.
Is 6063 aluminum stronger than 6061?
While this alloy does not differ from 6061 aluminum in many ways, its lower strength and better corrosion resistance make 6063 aluminum a better choice for extrusion projects.
Is 6063 aluminum strong?
Alloy 6063 offers very good corrosion resistance, particularly if an appropriate surface finish is applied. It also offers good weldability, brazeability, and workability. And it provides moderately good tensile strength and fair machinability.
