Product introduction:


Powder coated aluminium sheet is similar to traditional paint color coated plate, but the type of coating used is different.

Powder coated aluminium sheet also uses hot-dip galvanized plate, hot-dip aluminum zinc plate, hot zinc aluminum magnesium plate, and cold rolled plate as the base material. After degreasing and passivation treatment, it is electrostatically coated with powder. The product obtained after high-temperature baking is powder coated aluminium sheet. The powder coated aluminium sheet is rich and colorful. You can refer to the GSB color card, RAL color card, and Pantone color card for color matching. Ⅰ.Material composition

1. The core component resin system of powder coating:

Thermosetting resin (mainstream): epoxy resin (strong chemical resistance, suitable for indoor), polyester resin (excellent weather resistance, suitable for outdoor), acrylic resin (balanced weather resistance and decorative properties). Thermoplastic resin: polyethylene, polypropylene, etc., mostly used in anti-corrosion and wear-resistant scenes (such as pipeline coating).

• Curing agent: cross-links with the resin to form a hard coating (such as isocyanate and anhydride in thermosetting powder).

• Pigments and fillers: determine the color, gloss and physical properties of the coating (such as titanium dioxide whitening and barium sulfate hardness enhancement).

• Additives: leveling agents, defoamers, antistatic agents, etc., to improve spraying processability and coating performance.

 2. Substrate type

• Metal substrates: aluminum and aluminum alloys (such as doors and windows, curtain walls), steel (guardrails, steel structures), zinc alloys (hardware), stainless steel (kitchen and bathroom equipment), etc.

• Non-metallic substrates: plastics (such as ABS, PVC sheets), glass fiber composite materials (auto parts), etc. (special powder coatings are required).


Ⅱ.Production process

1. Pretreatment and degreasing: Use alkali or organic solvents to remove oil stains on the surface of the substrate (such as stamping oil, fingerprints).

• Rust removal and passivation: Sandblasting or pickling to remove rust, phosphating/chromizing to form an inert film and enhance coating adhesion (essential for metal substrates).

• Drying: Hot air drying or natural drying to ensure that there is no moisture on the surface.

2. Electrostatic spraying stage

• Principle: The spray gun charges the powder coating (negative charge), the substrate is grounded to form an electric field, and the powder is adsorbed on the surface of the substrate under the action of electrostatic force to form a uniform coating.

• Key parameters: Spraying voltage: 60-100kV (too high voltage is easy to break through the coating, too low adsorption is insufficient). ◦ Powder particle size: 50-100μm (too fine particles are easy to fly, too coarse affects flatness).

• Process advantages:

The powder utilization rate is more than 95% (unabsorbed powder can be recycled and reused), which is more environmentally friendly than liquid spraying.

3. Curing stage • Temperature and time:

Thermosetting powder needs to be baked at 180-220℃ for 10-20 minutes, and the resin and curing agent are cross-linked to form a film; thermoplastic powder is formed by melt leveling cooling.

• Equipment: Tunnel oven or oven, temperature control accuracy ±5℃, to ensure complete curing of the coating.


Ⅲ.Performance characteristics

1. Physical properties

• Coating thickness: 50-150μm (liquid coatings are usually 20-30μm), strong impact resistance (can withstand 50kg・cm impact force), scratch resistance (hardness of 2H or more).

• Flatness and gloss: The surface is smooth, and the gloss can be customized (matte, semi-gloss, high gloss), suitable for high-end decoration scenes.

2. Weather resistance and corrosion resistance

• Weather resistance: Polyester powder has outdoor weather resistance of 10-15 years (UV absorber needs to be added), and epoxy resin is suitable for indoor use (weather resistance is poor).

• Corrosion resistance: No rust in salt spray test (500-3000 hours), acid and alkali resistance (such as 10% sulfuric acid/sodium hydroxide solution immersion for 24 hours without change), suitable for chemical and coastal environments.

3. Environmental protection and safety

• Zero VOC emissions: Powder coatings are solvent-free and meet environmental protection standards (such as China GB 30981-2020), replacing liquid coatings to reduce pollution.

• Flame retardancy: Some powders are added with flame retardants to meet the B1 flame retardant standard (such as building curtain wall applications).

4. Cost advantage

• The one-time investment is high (equipment cost), but the powder can be recycled in long-term use, the energy consumption is low (curing energy consumption is about 1/3 of that of liquid coating drying), and the overall cost is lower than that of high-end liquid coatings (such as fluorocarbon paint).


IV. Application areas

1. Building decoration industry

• Doors, windows and guardrails: aluminum alloy doors and windows, iron guardrails, balcony railings, coatings with strong weather resistance and long-lasting colors (such as champagne gold, sand black).

• Curtain walls and ceilings: aluminum veneer curtain walls, metal ceilings, can be customized with imitation wood grain, stone grain and other effects, replacing stone to reduce the weight of the building.

1. Home appliances and electronic equipment

• Home appliance shells: refrigerator panels, air conditioner outdoor units, washing machine cases, fingerprint-resistant and easy to clean (such as matte white and metallic gray).

• 3C products: mobile phone middle frames, laptop shells (metal materials sprayed with matte powder to enhance texture and anti-slip properties)
